Hi there,

this is my second post, i posted the same in the german Part here.

I have an old computer rebuilt as Nas, each with 3 panels with UFS.

Yesterday it came to the worst case scenario and 2 of the volumes began. Why is a mystery to me.
Volume 2 (3x2 TB) has been marked as critical, the one plate gives up the ghost. So far, everything still in the open field.
However, Volume 1 was at the same time (also 3x2TB) marked as Unknown, in the boot process as Destroyed.

Stupidly, Freenas then took a HDD from Volume 1 to Volume 2 of Rebuild, as these were displayed as a new built-in drives.

How can I retrieve the data from Volume 1? Hope I have not made errors since I have posted the volume in the GUI.

Today the Volume 2 was finished with Rebuild, first everything was ok, but after a few hours the Volume 2 was degraded again, but there was nothing to do for the NAS.

To top it all the worse abound, I am not familiar with Unix commands.

Am grateful for any help

greeting

Harald

@Warri, you are the German speaking. Can you translate from his native language? He uses words that confuse me.

Sure. As far as I understood he started having problems with two disks in his UFS RAID pools.
He lost one disk in Volume2, leaving it in a critical state (not sure where, GUI?).
At the same time Volume1 did not mount anymore on boot.

Then the weird part: He claims that FreeNAS used one of the disks formerly in Volume 1 to rebuild Volume 2. Again not sure if that happened automatically (which I doubt) or which steps have been performed manually.

He wants to access the data on Volume 1 again, which is currently unmounted (done manually via GUI).

There is some console output in the original thread, although not very helpful for me - I have no idea about UFS Raids.. Is there an equivalent of zpool status / import to get a clearer picture of the situation?

@Pinhead: Hast du den Rebuild von Volume 2 manuell ausgelöst? Gibt es davon logs? Kannst du evtl. Screenshots vom Volume Manager hier reinstellen?

@warri,

All I can say is "weird". I don't know UFS that well but what you say is confusing so I can't really provide any help. :(

@Pinhead: Post the following console outputs (this time in code tags, please):

camcontrol devlist
glabel status
graid3 list
graid3 status Volume1
graid3 status Volume2

Not sure if those commands work, but we'll see. Let's wait for somebody more experienced with UFS Raids in the meantime ;)

Yeah.. nobody is experienced with UFS RAIDs here. Everyone with the experience knows that ZFS raid is far superior and uses that instead.
