Ubuntu 18.04 Boot to initramfs

I'm running a Lubuntu VM and an Ubuntu VM on bhyve, when I upgraded either/both to 18.04, they booted to initramfs. Rolled back to a previous snapshot and they boot fine again.

Tried installing a new test VM using an 18.04 ISO, the live "cd" also boots straight to initramfs as well.

Anyone else having this issue?

Running the most recent FreeNAS-11.1-U4.

Looks like bhyve has a problem with linux kernel 4.15 (and above?). Not seen this confirmed anywhere.

I also cant boot Ubuntu 18.04, from what I read its, as KrisBee said, related to the linux kernel 4.15.

Kris, do you know if there is a fix for this upcoming?

https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=227765 shows its fixed, but you'll have to wait for the new version of "uefi-edk2-bhyve" to appear in FreeNAS. Who knows when? Devs may not be aware of the issue.

Unfortunately, FreeNAS devs do not fix the issue. We have to wait for 11.2 and I guess 11.2-U2 or so, to get a stable release...
So I have to take Ubuntu 16 instead :(
