just because of power consumption, since the cpu is kinda overpowered for a 5 hdd system

Then see if you can sell it and swap in a more acceptable CPU. A server is usually running 24/7/365, and ZFS is not particularly amenable to systems where there are faults in the server hardware. You may already lack the safeguards of ECC memory, and both undervolting and overclocking are known to introduce the possibility of artificial (and unnecessary) errors. Once stuff is corrupt on a ZFS pool, things tend to stay corrupt, which is maybe fine if it's your game of Solitaire or whatever in core memory. So it crashes, who cares, you restart the game or the PC. But if it is ZFS being corrupted, and it writes your corrupted data out to disk, your data is now permanently corrupt the next time you try to access it --- and forever after.

Hm… You're aware that "TDP" is not a measure of actual power draw, right? The CPU in your NAS will likely be idle most of the time, and draw a few watts irrespective of its TDP.

The Morter is a gaming rig, with an image of a bomb on the front, which is foreshadowing...

It's not a bad board, though does not support ECC. @ForMyDemons, in my signature is Helpful (stuff), click through to the big page and find the link to Zebras All The Way Down. ZFS is a Copy-On-Write file system, which is part of what makes it resilient, but that requires heavy memory usage and is why TrueNAS users prefer Error Correcting RAM (it's a long video but lays out what's going on inside the computer and why all this is important).

Needless to say you're better off with Enterprise-Level hardware if running Enterprise Level (datacenter) software like TrueNAS. If you want to run consumer grade hardware then at least consider Ubuntu Server and not using ZFS for the reasons mentioned.

Remember we're here to help, not put up roadblocks; we want to help you reach your usage goal affordably, quickly, and easily.
