Hey all, So I decided to setup a home NAS for mostly my multimedia and also for my backups of multiple computers. I'm very good with hardware but don't have any FreeNAS experience. I chose the following hardware that I think should be OK but wanted a second opinion or confirmation from people experienced with FreeNAS.

Intel Celeron G1820 Haswell - £32
ASUS H87I-Plus mini-ITX board - £80 (cheapest mini-ITX haswell board that had 6 SATA ports)
2GB old DDR3 memory - £0, i have spare memory around
4 x Seagate ST4000VN000 (with option to add another two in the future) - £136 each
Fractal Design Node 304 Case - £60
Be Quiet! 300w Pure Power L8 PSU - £33

So overall it will cost around £750. I won't be doing RAID and will go JBoD, and will be running this over Gigabit Ethernet (so practically RAID has zero speed benefits and I'm not that concerned with data loss as I also have another backup plan as well and most multimedia are replaceable easily). I don't think using ZFE would make sense for me either so I'm guessing UFS it is.

Any thoughts on this build or suggestions for replacements?

Thanks in advance

I think you will be short on ram with all that storage even with UFS...

Thanks. I have a few modules around... another 2GB and a 4GB. Would 4GB suffice or shall I go for 6GB?
