smartctl not working for installed NMVe disk

I have a Samsung PM953 MZ1LV480HCHP-000MU 480GB NVMe installed in my server but I can not see it with smartctl. It works fine but I would like to monitor it's temperature. When I run smartctl --scan no NMVe drive is found. Does freenas version of smartctl support NMVe drives?

Try polling /dev/nvmeX rather than /dev/nvdX

FreeNAS 11.2-U5 has smartmontools 6.6. The release notes for 7.0:

include the line:

- FreeBSD: NVMe device scanning.

So maybe 6.6 just doesn't support NVMe in FreeBSD.
