New BIOS and IPMI available :)

http://www.supermicro.com.tw/products/motherboard/Xeon/C220/X10SL7-F.cfm

Anyone done it?

Changelogs! :D

EDIT1: Sensor problem!

Can't read IPMI with ipmiutil anymore. Also the sesor readings were ghone in the IPMI web GUI.

Reset to factory defaults solved the GUI issue, but i still can't get IPMIUTIL to function at all.

EDIT2:

Ipmiutil is ok again. Had to use the default 623 RMCP port. :)

So only the sensor readings in GUI were a bug from the firmware update.
Saw a line somewhere in the increadible messy changelog (under some other version) that a factory reset should be done after flashing.

Also available for other X10 boards, including X10SLM+-F/X10SLL+-F/X10SLH-F/X10SLM+-LN4F

That said, I'll echo charlie89's statement.

Though Supermicro generally provides a chnagelog if you ask support nicely.

Well... new version means bugfixes. 1 year since last time.

I just updated both. No issues so far. :)

You can easily do it with a bootable CD. Use remote control... mount bootable ISO and boot into DOS.

Then with BIOS on the mounted ISO or on a USB stick... run the update utility.

Or you can get your license key from here:

Yeah, I know. It's still a pain, though.

And I'm not going to pay them 30 bucks to provide incentive for this business practice.

I just updated both the IPMI firmware and the bios. Everything went smooth and seems stable.

For the bios update, I used Rufus to create a bootable USB drive, placed the bios update folder on the USB drive, enabled USB boot in bios and away it went after typing in the command & bios file name. I actually did all of this remotely using IPMI.

I recently purchased a SM X10SL7-F board with 8 GB of ECC RAM and an Intel i3-4340 CPU. I purchased this combination of hardware because everything said it work with VT-d. I am looking to do ESXi virtualization and was having problems with the passthrough not working so I updated the bios to version 2.2 build date 3/24/2015. My problem is that VT-d shows "Unsupported" (see System Agent Configuration) with no method to change. I searched Google but have come across nothing that would suggest the options would not be Enabled/Disabled. The manual says I should be able to update this option. This is grayed out. The only other hardware in the system is a RocketRaid 2720 raid card (which I do not suspect should have ANY impact on anything). I have also included my CPU config bios screenshots in case that might help. Of note, VT-x is supported and Intel Virtualization Technology is enabled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i3s don't support VT-D. I think there is 1 or 2 exceptions, but they are basically $20 less than the E3-1230s and perform much slower than the Xeon. So I think your answer is "buy a Xeon".

You either have really cheap Xeons or very expensive i3s. Around here, the Xeons are twice as expensive as the i3s.

How did I miss that? Ugh. I swear I looked at the right thing. Nevertheless, thank you for the responses.
