Hey guys,
i've been around reading for a year now, and now the time has come to build a small homeserver.
It's main purpose is to serve as a Plex Server for 3 clients (1080p). Those are the parts i selected, and i wanted to check with you if this build will be ok?

- MB: Supermicro X11-SLL-CF-O
- CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230v5
- RAM: 2x 16GB Samsung DDR4 2133 ECC (part number M391A2K43BB1-CPB)
- case: Fractal Design Node 804
- cable: miniSASHD (SFF-8643) -> 4xSATA
- boot device: 32GB SSD
- PSU: Seasonic G-series 750

So for the boot device i am not really satisfied with using USB sticks so i would like to go the route with using 1 SSD. I have a fairly new 32GB transcend 340K SSD lying around and would like to use it as a boot device.

I hope i have selected the right SAS to SATA cable, since i don't really have any experience with SAS.

As for HDDs i could get my hands on 5x WD red 3TB for 375€ (used since 2013), this would be a fairly good price. I originally planned to start out with 4x 3TB in RaidZ2. But if buying used isn't a problem i would start with 6x3TB RaidZ2. So what do you guys think?

Thx in advance and
Kind regards

I'd estimate those drives only have <2 years of life left in them.

Your choice :)

Everything else looks good. What size psu are you going to get?

Thanks for the input! Hmm not so good news on the HDDs...then maybe i should go with new ones [emoji13]

PSU i forgot, i thought about going with a seasonic g-series 750...to be on the safe side when scaling up in 2017 (about 10 drives in the end...)
