As most of you might have read, Samsung 980 PRO 2 TB SSD's running firmware 3B2QGXA7 are in high chance of drive dying. Read more here:
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-980-pro-ssd-failures-firmware-update
I happen to be one of the unlucky ones that have a round of these in my system in TrueNAS Scale.
Samsung Magician Software only applies to Windows for consumer drives - does anyone know (Is it possible) to update the drives firmware without installing windows?
I doubt it's possible to do from TrueNAS, but is there any bootable media that can do it?
Or do I have to schedule a reinstall to just update drive software, and then reinstall TrueNAS to run?
Luckily TrueNAS importing / exporting configuration and ZFS importing pools is nothing short of god tier, so it's possible, but annoying downtime.
