Hi,

after enable the option "Show console messages in the footer", I found the information below. As I remember I saw some message during boot saying something regarding FIRMWARE for Harddrives.

>>>> There is a way to apply that firmware update directly from FREENAS or should I boot from other media and run the EXE fil provided from Seagate article (link below)?

My environment:
Dell PE SC 1435 - Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2210, 12GB RAM, 1x SATA 1TB + 1x SATA 2TB
FreeNAS-9.1.0-RELEASE-x64 (dff7d13) booting/running from Kingston DataTraveller 4GB

No, there is no way of running an DOS EXE file in FreeNAS. You need to boot into Windows/DOS as instructed in the KB article you linked. However, SMART reports that your drive is failing / about to fail so you should work on replacing the drive immediately instead of flashing a new firmware.

First of all, that is cool. I've never seen those messages before.
Second, Sorry for your loss. If your pool is still running you had better have a backup of all your important information right away because it won't be there long. Typically when SMART tells you there is a problem, you might have 24 hours left before complete failure but more often than not, the damage has been done already and SMART just tells you is really bad.
Third, The firmware warning comes up because Samsung in their wisdom created a fix and didn't change the revision status to note the fix. I don't recall the date but I think it was if your drive was manufactured on or after January 2012 then the fix is there. But that fix wouldn't help you at all.

Good Luck, I feel you are going to need it.
