Hello all, I had a very nice stable 9.3 FreeNas server running for a long time. The other night I noticed the alert that said there would be no more development on 9.3 and that I should switch to 9.10. So, I pulled down the drop down and hit 9.10. Updates came down, installed. Everything looked fine. I waited 5-10 minutes while it rebooted....and waited...and waited. Nothing. I run it headless, so I had to dig out a monitor and hook it up to see what was happening. It starts fine but when it comes up I get "No configured interfaces were found. Try to do it manually". I did but the only thing it allows is the entry of DNS servers. I am no linux guru by far but loved the FreeNas server. The other thing is is that it backed up my other home server which went south a few months ago and now I got nothing, so I really need to get this going. Can anyone offer me any help?
Thanks!!!

Post the output of ifconfig within code blocks (or a screenshot).

Hi there, I am at work so cannot get to it but I took a screenshot of a new error message that popped up this AM before I left. I am attaching it here. Thanks again for taking a look.

Hardware spec? And setup your networking if you can.

Its an older server, I don't even know anymore whats in it to be honest. It was running without a hitch for years. I have the OS drive and two drives for storage, I think 2GB of RAM.

Gig ether to my ASUS router? I have DHCP turned on which it usually grabbed no problem. Anything other than that I will have to look at when I get home. I saw a similar thread somewhere else where he just plugged in a STATIC IP and said that it worked but this message looks more ominous than that. I can get to shell, but I'm not sure how to set up a STATIC IP, like I said my unix knowledge is very limited.
Thanks again.

2GB or RAM? FreeNAS requires 8GB RAM. If you don't know your hardware configuration then it's going to be difficult to help you.

Well, it may be 4. Regardless it ran fine, so I don't know what to tell you. I don't think thats the issue though.
I don't know what my options are here? Reset to factory defaults? A reinstall? It should not wipe out what I have on the storage side though I assume?

Provided you don't do something intentional to the pool it should be fine.

Well you were asked already to do this by a very experienced person and this data is crucial.
Post the output of ifconfig within code blocks (or a screenshot).
The screenshot she was asking for was of the output of ifconfig.

The only other thing I can think of is to reinstall FreeNAS (the older version you previously had) on a new USB Flash drive (assuming you are using a USB Flash Drive) and then restore the backup of your configuration file. That should get you back to where you started.

Duly noted about the IFCONFIG. I stated that I was at work and would post it when I got home tonight. I was not ignoring her.

As a heads up, the worst case for you is that in the new FreeNAS version, your NIC hardware is no longer supported. ifconfig will hopefully help, but knowing what the physical hardware is, is really important. So whenever you can provide that information, someone here will toss you some help.

Here is IFCONFIG command along with 2 other errors I get while starting. Its strange I saw early on in startup where it starts em0 so I don't understand what happens. IFCONFIG looks like the network IS active...

EDIT: I have no idea why the pics are sideways...they are not that way when uploaded.

You have got to be kidding me. How about the entire screen shot for "ifconfig". You are missing the interface names on the left which is a key part of the data.

Also post the output of "dmesg | more" but please make sure the photos contain all the information and they are right side up. This will give us the information during bootup.

By looking at the MAC address, it appears to be an Intel NIC. But, which one?

But, it would have been nice to see the entire screenshot. And, turned 90 degrees for easier reading.
