Hi,

I need your help.
I just invested into
SATA card:
PCI Express -> 2x SATAIII+2x eSATA Best Connect (ASMedia ASM106x chipset)
Western Digital Caviar Green 3.5" 3TB (WD30EZRX)

Raidsonic ICY BOX IB-351StU3S-B 3.5" SATA USB3.0/eSATA

Unfortunately FreeNAS can't recognize the disk.

Can anyone help me please?
I'd like to use this storage as backup (offline) via eSATA.

Thanks in advance!

I've just read that FreeNAS support ASM106 but need to be configured. Any idea about this?

From system note:

ahci0: <ASMedia ASM1061 AHCI SATA controller> port 0x8000-0x8007,0x8400-0x8403,0x8800-0x8807,0x8c00-0x8c03,0x9000-0x901f mem 0xeb000
000-0xeb0001ff irq 16 at device 0.0 on pci3
ahci0: AHCI v1.20 with 2 6Gbps ports, Port Multiplier supported
ahcich0: <AHCI channel> at channel 0 on ahci0

ahcich1: <AHCI channel> at channel 1 on ahci0

You need to explain how you have your hardware connected? One hard drive and an external drive case and a SATA PCIe card? This does not make a FreeNAS machine.

List all your hardware and what FreeNAS software you are using.

Question time... The PCIe card you have, what model/brand is it and does it by chance have jumpers to configure using the internal or external SATA connections? Maybe add-on SATA cards that have both internal and external connections only have say 2 ports but the board has 2 internal and 2 external connections, and they need to know which one to use.

Read the user guide for that card and ensure you have the proper SATA port enabled. That will likely fix your issue.
