Is there any chance of getting a plugin going for Owncloud V7.0

There are many new useful features.

I am running V6.3 and that works but V7.0 would be great.

I prefer a simple plugin - but don't mind loading it manually, - I just don;t know what to do to make it happen.

i am sure there are others that would like to run it as well.

Hi. Thanks for posting the link. But is there any quicker/easier way to install owncloud 7 on FreeNAS (9.2.1)? Currently I can install only owncloud 6.0.3 using the web-gui of FreeNAS (9.2.1).
Any further tips/hints are highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Maybe it is easier to install owncloud 6.0.3 and then update it to 7?

I think the answer is, nope. I didn't find the manual installation to be very bad at all. It's not immediate satisfaction but it's not an all day event either.

You know what's making me stop and seriously question Owncloud's developers? They are pushing out updates every 60 days for serious security bugs, and they've gone from 5.x to 6.x and then to 7.x in like 7 months.

I think someone needs to pull their heads out of their asses and focus on fixing their poor security problems and stop worrying about pushing out releases as fast as they can. They need to get their priorities straight or I'm going to stop using them.

I went to upgrade via the in app "upgrade" button but ran into a permissions issue.

Upgrade is not possible. Make sure that your webserver has write access to the following files and directories:

/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty

Do you know what user the upgrade tool uses? I don't appear to have www-data as suggested on the owncloud forum and I would like to go to 7.

freebsd uses the "www" user

On my freeNAS test-environment I did the following.
Just before installation I set the permission of ownCloud to 777: chmod -R 777 owncloud-amd64/
Then I did the update to 7.0.1 succesffully and finally I set back the permission as they were before: chmod -R 755 owncloud-amd64/

Maybe that is a wrong way but it's easy and works fine.
Now, I have the latest version 7.0.1 of ownCloud on my freeNAS.

this is wrong, but may still work. some files may need specific permission levels.

whats wrong with ?
chown -R www:www /usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www

Interesting!
I did the ownCloud 7.0.1 update again. Before the update (to 7.0.1) I changed the permission of these files (as shown in the error log) to 777:

/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty/LICENSE INFO
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty/MDB2.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty/PEAR-LICENSE
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty/PEAR.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty/PEAR5.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty/System.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty/class.phpmailer.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty/class.smtp.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/3rdparty/patches.txt
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/.htaccess
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/AUTHORS
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/COPYING-AGPL
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/console.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/cron.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/db_structure.xml
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/index.html
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/index.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/occ
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/public.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/remote.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/robots.txt
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/status.php
/usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/version.php

After the update all permissions (even on other files and directories) has been changed. Even the owner was set from root:wheel to www:www to all files and directories.
Specifically for the files above the permissions were changed to 666 (rw-rw-rw-).

I had the same issue with files not accessible, so running from the jail GUI;

Code:
chmod -R 777 /usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/

worked for me, update successful! and permissions were auto corrected during the upgrade

This is how I upgraded owncloud 6.0.3.
First thing first backup
If something goes wrong - got the backup - phew.
I got that pesky remainder that 7.0.2 is available so I found pretty simple solution for it.

In FreeNas interface click on Jails - top selection - then in jail select your owncloud and at the bottom click on shell.
Copy, paste and run each of the first three commands.

cd /usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www;
chown -R www.www owncloud;
chmod -R 777 owncloud;

Next log in to owncloud interface (webpage) as admin.
Scroll to Updater and click on update Center
Click update tab and update
Follow instructions
After all done run the rest of the commands

cd /usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud;
find . -type f -print -exec chmod 444 {} \;
find . -type d -print -exec chmod 755 {} \;
find . -type d -print -exec chown www:wheel {} \;
cd /usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/config;
chmod 644 config.php;

Now you'r done, good job.
Just one more thing, the installed plugins will show that you still have old version - don't worry about it.
I had no time to play with it.
The on - off works.
