Open listening port for Transmission with VPN

Hi team,

I've spent the last 2-3 days trying to figure this out with no luck. I know how to port forward with my router etc. to open up a listening port for transmission, however as soon as I activate my VPN it closes all ports and I can't upload any of my seeds. I've tried everything within my knowledge from router level VPN to having OpenVPN installed within my transmission jail. Has anyone found a way to operate transmission with an open listening port while still using a VPN?

I take it that your VPN supplier gives you a incoming port to forward to ?

Unfortunately not, I'm with PIA and all the advice for port forwarding has to do with a windows OS, not freenas.

There is a published script for assigning an incoming port on PIA for router based VPNs. It should work on freenas. Search their forums.
I went to airvpn to get an incoming port for transmission but my vpn client runs on my pfsense router.
