Open Directory (LDAP) oddities

I can query my open directory tree with getent.

I can even start typing in names or groups in fields and it auto fills them.

But they do not populate in the users and groups in the GUI.

help please?

When you connect FreeNAS to a directory service, the users and groups from that directory service will not populate in FreeNAS in the way I think you're thinking.

The "Account" section is for users and groups managed locally by the FreeNAS server.

Hmm ok,

How would I be able to set permissions from an LDAP group to also have the same permissions on a free nas volume?

You'll have to clarify what you mean. What permissions are you setting on an LDAP group?

I'm assuming what you mean is: how can I assign permissions for a share to an LDAP group? And you already answered that yourself: just start typing in the group name, and it should be selectable in the dropdown.
