Hi - one of the drives in my Pool was dying (SMART errors), so I replaced it (this is not the first time I have had to replace a drive). After I did this, I received the error "Pool Pug state is ONLINE: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was made to correct the error. Applications are unaffected.".

I went through the process of identifying the offending disk, and it was the one I had just replaced (da4). Since it is brand new and hadn't had any of the SMART tests run on it yet, I cleared the error (zpool clear Pug) and am scrubbing the pool again. Once it finishes, I will run the long SMART test on that drive and see if anything comes up.

This has happened to me before on this pool/machine and I am wondering why. I have another TrueNAS server with all 3TB disks, and have never had to replace a disk (at least not yet), but this machine with all 6TB disks, I have had to replace at least 3 of the disks and I keep getting this error (and each time I replace the offending disk). Is there an issue with 6TB disks, or am I just unlucky? I have a mix of Segate and WD drives (more of the WD drives have failed, which is why I am going with Segate drives now).

Thanks - Andrew

The scrub finished and now 3 of my disks are showing issues (they are all relatively new)... I just don't understand how/why they keep failing...

There are a few things I would suggest:
  1. Provide your system information as requested by the Forum Rules at the top of the page. It is impossible to offer any detailed comments.
  2. Check cables and power connections to make certain nothing is amiss
  3. Burn in your new drives properly - there is advice in the resources section of the forum about this.
Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have added my system info, although I like how you did yours with the "Show : System" button (could you tell me how you did it?). I checked all the power connections and cables and everything is good. I will burn in the drives. Thanks again!

Thanks a million - It took me a sec to realize your formatting was "off" so that it would display correctly in your post.
