I have a Tyan S7045 motherboard with a Startech M.2 adapter and a Samsung 950 Pro attached to slot 2 (second from the bottom) but I can't FreeNAS to recognize. If I do a
Code:
dmidecode -t slot
it shows all the slots as available. What should my next troubleshooting steps be?

Try a different adapter, try a known-good standard size PCIe card in the slot, try a different SSD, ...

Also, try a different PCIe slot. It would help if you would provide your system configuration.

Can you remove the adapter card to another computer and test it there?
Your Tyan board could have a bad pci-e slot, have you tried other slots
on the Tyan board?
Could you boot up a linux distro and see if the SSD is picked up by that
operating system?

I tried the first PCI slots but looking at the manual for the Motherboard it "says" PCI x4 is on the second slot. I unfortunately don't have another adapter or SSD. I'll try slot by slot and see what happens.

Any commands I should try to see if either the card/ssd is recognized if it's not obvious in FreeNAS?

I tried every slot and nothing. I'll try testing in an old server from the office and see what I get. Thanks!
