Hi, I'm currently running 8.3.1 nightly and I was wondering if it's possible to go to 8.3.0 release.

I saved my config in the nightly but when I tried to upload it to the release it came up with a database error, then rebooted and hung.

Thanks in advance

Could I just rename the config to freenas-FreeNAS-8.3.0-x64? I'm running the Txz gui upgrade

It's a database file. FreeNAS is not forwards-compatible, you won't be able to import it with any ease. Your pools are safe, but you'll probably have rebuild your users and services configuration.

You MIGHT be able to get away with going back to 8.3.0 RELEASE. But if it doesn't work don't be too upset. Its technically not supported nor expected to work.

Ok I have just made another nas and installed 8.3.0 release and it seems to work fine. I'm only using it as a home media server hooked up to a boxee box.

So back to the original topic if I install 8.3.0 on a usb stick then boot up. Is it just a matter of importing the volume to restore all my data and then as Ben said redo the settings? I have 6tb of data and although it's backed up, it's still a long time to copy over.
Thanks guys
