Hello everyone! Newbie here, so please be nice :)

I am about to convert my Lenovo K450 IdeaCentre and I have some questions.

Below are my current specs:
  • Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4430 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz
  • Installed RAM 8.00 GB
  • Windows 10 64bit
First question is, will this PC handle the software, etc OK?

Second question is, I am wanting to add three - Western Digital 4TB WD Red Plus NAS Internal Hard Drive - 5400 RPM Class, SATA 6 Gb/s, CMR, 64 MB Cache, 3.5. From what I have been reading, I can do a RAIDZ1 which can utilize all three drives and the space - is that correct?

The main goal is to turn this machine into a Plex server for local and external use.

Thanks and again, I am new to this and very very interested to get started.

Should work, but more RAM would be better, especially if you intend to do a lot of transcoding.

Thanks for reply. The plan is setup two of the drives first then transfer the data from the external 4TB drive to the PC. Once that is done, i will add the external 4tb drive to the pc.

Any issues there - do you think?

ECC ram is certainly recommended. Desktop hardware is not ideal, unless of course you dont care much about the data you're going to be putting on the system.
