Hi All,

Mind the title, I am a true newbie with building NAS' and have not build a PC in about 10+ years. I am currently using a Qnap TS-459+ which is nearing the end of it's life and I am going to replace it with a self-build NAS based on TrueNas Scale. My main focus will be keeping it quiet and having it perform really well. I do not need extreme amount of TB's as it is primarily used for storing backup data, running plex and some other containers and doing labs in VM's. It will also be used for storing and serving ISO's for labs on other machines. All valuable data (pictures, etc..) will also be stored on 2 different cloud storage platforms. Here is the hardwarelist I have selected, please be kind.

  • Asus Prime Z790M-PLUS D4 mATX
  • Intel i3-12100F
  • Kingston FURY Beast geheugenmodule 64 GB (2 x 32 GB DDR4 3600 MHz)
  • Samsung 870 EVO 500GB (Boot)
  • 3x Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB (RaidZ1)
  • Intel x540-T2 1/10GbE
  • 2x Noctua NF-R8 redux-1800 PWM Case fan
  • Noctua Kühler NH-L9i 17xx CPU fan
  • be quiet! Pure Power 11 400W PSU
  • SilverStone RM23-502-MINI, 2U Rackmount case

Everything will be connected to a newly ordered Ubiquity 24 port Enterprise switch. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to think of to make sure it performs and stays quiet.
