I am totally new to FreeNAS ans FreeBSD. I would like to know if and how I can install Crashplan plugin. The jails confuse me and not sure how the adding storage etc works.

I would like to basicly be able to backup my FreeNAS box to Crashplan. I have it setup as Tank right now running Sabnzbd, Sickbeard and CouchPotato. I would like to back up all my Media but not sure how I go about this.

Install crash plan plugin. Then use the info on crash plan website about headless configuration. SRC will be your datasets and dest will be a path inside your jail.

Remove the plugin. Find another PC in your network (I have a Win7 PC upstairs and a Win8 PC in basement). If they have permissions on CIFs to access your freenas, you're better off downloading the Crashplan application straight from Code42.

Then since Crashplan cannot handle network drives (like if you mapped /freenas/Media to "G:" on your Windows box) go to a command prompt on your windows box and run cmd as administrator. Execute a symbolic link to your freenas as: mklink /d c:\Crashplan \\freenas\Media

Then your Crashplan app can choose your c:\Crashplan\Media folders and back them up.
