Hey guys,

I've just set up a new install in an old desktop as my first NAS. It's nothing special, I've got a 120GB ssd as a boot drive, a 256GB ssd for plugins/jails and 2 8TB Iron Wolf drives for storage.

Not quite understanding that TrueNAS doesn't use RAID I set the sata mode up as RAID and have now configured the iron wolfs as mirrored inside the web interface. It all seems to be working fine, I haven't done any RAID configurations on the drives themselves. I have been reading since though that you should set them up as AHCI as zfs doesn't use RAID.

There's very little on the drives at the moment so wiping them and re-doing it isn't an issue, so my question is before I start using it properly should I change the sata mode to AHCI for peace of mind and set them up again in TrueNAS?

Thanks
