Hi,

My old Samsung EVO 850 ssd that I used as boot drive for Freenas/Truenas decided to die after~10 years of use. I decided to replace it with a Kingston 120GB A400 SATA and also bought a LEVEN SSD 64GB 3D NAND TLC SATA, just in case.

I did a fresh install with Truenas 12.0-U8 on the Kingston first. But my MB doesn't want to recognize it as UEFI boot drives... I tried with the LEVEN and same issue.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7PESH2. I'm using the SATAIII port.

Boot is set to UEFI and Legacy, SATA is set to AHCI.

It worked perfectly with the Samsung SSD, but I'm wondering if it's something different with Truenas 12 that makes the ssd not being recognized as a UEFI boot drive? Both ssds are being detected by the system but not as boot drives.

Is this a problem with those new SSDs or did something change in Truenas?

Solved it! I reinstalled Truenas in BIOS/legacy mode instead of UEFI, and now it can boot from the SSD with this motherboard.
