When trying to mount a volume via NFS on Mac OSX Lion - I get this in /var/log/messages on FreeNAS:

- mount request from XX.YY.ZZ.BB from unprivileged port

I tried setting this on the client side using mount_nfs command and trying both privileged and unprivileged ports, but NO luck..

In reality - I need a Solution on the **Server Side** instead of Client.

I tried editing the /etc/rc.conf file - but the changes do not stick after reboot.

--> found on line that I need to set: nfs_reserved_port_only="NO"

No luck...

Please help :)

There is nothing special with osx and nfs ...
I have a couple of nfs mounts, and everything is set as "default".

I'm using osx 10.6.8 , freenas 8.02 ans freebsd 8.1 and 8.2

my freenas settings :

the filesystem ( storage -> permissions
roor owns, perms is rwxrcrc pretty normal. Below that user readable/writebel dires has to be created owned by the
UID/GID the clients will use

filesystem exported aka NFS share:
"authorized ip" has a single entry , the net where the clients reside
alldirs is true (X)
the rest id uninteresting
the "services -> NFS" is defailt ( no async)

On the osx side i simple in finder -> connect has a line
nfs://<server name:/filesystem_name>

maybe you try to mount afs or cifs filesystems ??

I do run a valid bind nameserver, unability to resolve hosts names might be a source of trouble.

What osc do you use ?

How do you mount the nfs filesystems ?
