LSI 9300 HBA with SAS2 Intel SAS Expanders

Saw an old closed thread about this (back to 2016...). Just was wondering if anyone is using SAS3 HBAs with SAS2 expanders without any issues today.

I am, but only since this morning and under SCALE. But no issues so far.

I am using LSI 2308 based cards but still get the door knock issue in VMware. I would like to try an LSI 3008 based card and run 8644 to 8088 cables. I am running Intel RES2Sx SAS2 expanders in my JBOD cases. I do not need the speed, system runs fine except for the darn door knock issue. :(

The cards are cheap enough, perhaps I will try it out with my spare JBOD chassis as I evaluate my options.
