Increase RAM of VM after creation

Hello Community,

i created a VM for my Ubuntu-Server on which i run Nextcloud. Its running fine (although i simply cannot get SSL to work and i couldn't make NextCloud's home directory on the SMB Share for my main storage where i wanted things to be, but that's a different matter), but i run into RAM issues because i gave the VM only 1024 MB of Ram. Also CPU periodically maxes out when i browse large file systems.

Can i change the CPU & RAM for the VM after i created it and installed everything there? If yes, what do i have to do to not mess things up?
I didn't do anything yet because i don't want to mess up my server and the nextcloud installation.

Thank you!

Sure. Shut down VM, click on "Edit", add CPU cores and memory as you see fit. Start VM.

Running Nextcloud in a jail would have much less overhead compared to a VM. Nextcloud does run perfectly well on FreeBSD. Plus, you can mount your share directly into the jail without using a network protocol.

Great, thanks!

AFAIK the jail plugin directly from TrueNAS doesnt install the Collabora integrated CODE server with it. And thats a huuuuuuge pain to install (for me atleast). So i went with the ubuntu-server variant because there it comes directly integrated and preconfigured and works out of the box.

yeah so i quickly installed a jail nextcloud on truenas, and yeah. it runs so much better...but i cant install the CODE server so i'd have to host that seperately... i dont think i can make that work because the tutorials for that are all quite old and i saw a couple things already changed.

Try OnlyOffice instead? It's dead easy in an Ubuntu VM with Docker-Compose, and 4 G of memory is enough. BTW ... there are current tutorials for both, Collabora and OnlyOffice on this forum:
