Hi

I'm building a NAS soon for data warehousing. Looking at using 3x IBM N2226. From the pictures, this seems to be a re-badged 9300-16e. I understand that FreeNAS supports the 9300. Does anyone know if it will support the N2226 out of the box? If not, has anyone had any experience re-flashing the N2226? I'd really like to have some idea if it will work before we fork out $2k on the cards.

Unfortunately I am vendor constrained by my employer otherwise I would buy LSI parts directly.. probably the 9201. I can only buy "spare parts" from IBM.

Do you need SAS3? If not, the IBM M1015 with an LSI 2008 or newer versions thereof with the LSI 2308 work very well and are generally available.

The LSI SAS 9300 should work, but driver support is still not 100% production-ready. It has two LSI SAS 3008 controllers, which I guess can be independently accessed and thus flashed to whatever you want (SAS3 IT mode).

Thanks. Sounds like I should avoid the 9300.
I'll have to figure out how to get 9201-16 instead. The intention is to use 48 drives.
