How to use mySQL for user authentication

I am using SQL for user authentication to access my Linux folders. I am thinking to work on FreeNAS but I don't know either can we write plugin or do we have plugin already available which can help us to authenticate users from existing SQL database.

Freenas supports external authentication providers such as ldap and ad. I don't think a sql database is in that list. You could write a script that runs on an interval that syncs the users from SQL to freenas local users by using the freenas api.
