MB: ASRock C236 WSI Mini ITX Server https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B96248O/
Memory: 2xKingston ValueRAM 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4 2133 RAM (Server Memory) ECC Intel Validated DIMM (288-Pin) KVR21E15D8/8I https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820242310
Boot Drive: Old OCZ Vertex 2 SSD (55GB) (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227550)
Storage: 2x4TB WD Red (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236599&ignorebbr=1)
Usage:
This is a pretty typical home NAS / DVR, looking to move the HTPC out of the living room (and just use Plex clients). It will go into my office where space is a bit of premium and aesthetics are important to me so that's why I chose the case. Looking to record TV and store recordings as well as any large/precious files such as family photos etc and some frequently watched digitized versions of our DVD/Blu-Ray collection. I imagine I'll be doing max 1-2 simultaneous transcodes so I think the CPU is adequate.
Concerns:
Some reviewers on newegg said the MB does not supports ECC but I think it was simply a non-compatible ECC memory. Reviewers with the Kingston memory I listed had no problems. If there are any cheaper memory options or a place where I can research it please let me know.
Appreciate your feedback.
