I was wondering if there would be any problems or comparability issues for freenas with using any of these HBAs? Also of the 2 HBAs which you all consider the higher quality card? I feel like the LSI is the better one of the two but point out any know issues that i am unaware of.

HBAs:

Last question. How does this card compare to the M1015? Is it a card that would work at all with FreeNas? Is it a good quality one? It is cheaper in the US here for me then the M1015 so if there is no difference would it be acceptable to use in a build?

Thank you all for your time.

Adaptec.. the fact you even linked to an Adaptec makes me laugh. Those are basically the worst you could ever recommend.

As for the LSI, why would you spend $400 on a 16 port when you can get the M1015 (8port) for $100!?

The Supermicro part only works in certain Supermicro motherboards, so unless you have info that it is compatible as an addon, it's not even an option. Search the forums for other people that have bought it and been relatively disappointed.

No, go with the M1015. We recommend it because it's the cheapest your going to find and it works. Even the Supermicro against the M1015, why would you go with something obscure like the Supermicro part (which is also slightly more expensive) while going "far off the beaten path". You can bet dollars to donuts if the M1015 suddenly stopped working in some FreeNAS release tons of developer resources would appear from the community to make it work. You'll *never* get that kind of thing with the Supermicro card.

M1015 or go home. ;)
