Hello all,
Apologies for the rather basic question: Is it possible with the latest version of FreeNAS to install FreeNAS on VMWare; however, the storage would be on a USB drive external to the system. If so, are there any guides to this process? I do understand that the goal of FreeNAS would be to go wider than this, but am hoping to avoid using dedicated HW for my home use for just FreeNAS. A more detailed description of what I wish to do is this:
- Install VMWare hypervisor, i.e. VMware vSphere Hypervisor on the HW
- Install FreeNAS
- Use an external USB drive attached to the HW as the storage repository
Will this work?
Kind regards.
