Installation Freenas 9.1.1 on VMware 9

Hi all,

I'm trying to install Freenas with VMware.
For example I am following these steps: http://www.wackytechtips.com/installing-freenas-on-vmware-workstation/3/

But when the installation is complete it still gives the first installation menu.
When I try to reboot without a CD-rom enabled it says No DHCP and no OS installed.

Can you please help me with this?

I thought 2 GB of space on the harddrive would be enough..probably not.

That's one way to find it, yes.

You could also try the following. Convert the full usb image to a vmdk. I use VirtualBox for testing and I am able to boot from the vmdk defined as SCSI boot hdd. In a window's command prompt or a BSD terminal use the VBoxManage convertfromraw command:

VBoxManage convertfromraw <filename> <outputfile>
[--format VDI|VMDK|VHD]
[--variant Standard,Fixed,Split2G,Stream,ESX]
[--uuid <uuid>]

But of course the Statutory Warning : Please do not run FreeNAS in production as a Virtual Machine!" :)
