FreeNAS box affecting WiFi Connections?

Hello,

I've got a 9.3 installation in a CoolerMaster Elite Mini-ITX case. Pretty simple configuration. 8g ECC ram, 2 - 2t hard drives. I just accepted defaults during the install and it works.

It is connected to my network via Ethernet through my ASUS RT-AC66U router with a static IP address.

The problem I am having is that something in the FreeNAS box is making my WIFI connections intermittent. In other words, the three laptops and one tablet that access the network using WIFI lose their connections at random times. Sometimes they can reconnect immediately - sometimes not.

As soon as I shut the NAS off the problem goes away. I've never seen anything like this before and don't have any idea where to start troubleshooting which is why I'm asking if there is anything in the FreeNAS net config that could be affecting this behavior. Thanks.

How close is your NAS to the router? If it's somewhat close you may consider placing it further away to see if that helps. What motherboard do you have? Does it have built in WiFi by chance? Also, if you leave the NAS turned on and then unplug the Ethernet cable to it, does the problem clear up (I doubt it will but you need to test everything). If the problem clears up, replace the Ethernet cable with a different one.

Can you describe losing wifi connections? Do the Wifi clients lose physical connectivity (can't connect to the Access Point), or Internet connectivity? Can they still ping devices using IP address on the LAN? What are the outputs of arp -a on the clients and freenas?
