Hey folks,

I searched the forum and only found some old threads to my question.

Is it possible with the current stable Release of freeNAS to use the APC UPS (APC Back UPS PRO USV 900 VA) connected by lan? I found out that you will need snmp, which is supported according to the documentation.

Do I need to complete further steps or is it wiser to use a USB controlled UPS?

Thanks in advance

Phil

I'm not sure but I think the LAN port connection is only for surge suppression, not for control signals. But I could be wrong, love to see the documentation for a LAN control signal.

Back-UPS Pro doesn't even support networking. Your best bet is NUT.

Right. They charge massive amounts of cash for the networking cards for already insanely-expensive UPSes.

Alright Thanks,

I will have to Check some other Devices then. I've read in the description that this device could control shutdowns via Lan.

You can do that through FreeNAS (or a different OS), but not directly on the UPS.
