Hi All,
I have been using FreeNAS for last couple of years and I have been on v8 all this long and it's been working great! I can access all my files and folders from both mac and PC and my tablets as well.

So today I have decided to upgrade to FreeNAS v9.2.1.5. The upgrade was successful however since the update, I am struggling to connect to the network drives from my MAC. Sometimes I can connect to the nas from mac but most of the times it fails to connect. I'd say 1 out of 10 tries it connects successfully.

I can access FreeNAS through the web and see all the configuration and options. Since the update the left hand menu takes a few minutes to load - another problem.

The final problem I have is with the Plugins. The plugin folder is empty and the Repository URL: is set to http://www.freenas.org/downloads/plugins/9/x64/pbi-meta/pbi-repo.rpo

I found someone in this forum suggested to use this URL
http://appcafe.org/freenas/json

But when I try to use this url I get the following error:

Unable to set repository: HTTPConnectionPool(host='appcafe.org', port=80): Max retries exceeded with url: /freenas/json (Caused by : [Errno 8] hostname nor servname provided, or not known)

I don't know what to do. PLEASE HELP!

I'm using 64 bit.

That URL is deprecated and shouldn't be used.

Please post your hardware specs and the output of ifconfig.

Thanks for your reply. Please find ifconfig output below. As for the hardware spec, I have HP ProLiant MicroServer with 8GB RAM and other built in hardware. I am running, FreeNAS under vSphere ESXi v8.

Is promiscuous mode enabled in ESXI?

Yes and again, I haven't had any such issues or any issues for that matter up until I upgraded to 9 couple of days ago. I still can't map/connect to the drives on my mac. I can use file browsers app on my iPad and iPhone to browse files but that's very slow too.

I did try once from my windows pc and that seem to connect too but again, slow.

However, from mac and windows, the web GUI/admin menu on the left and other menus (going from the top) takes minutes to load.

But the questions still remain about the side menu load issue and plugin installation issue. Can't install any plugin.

I'm thinking that 8GB of RAM isn't enough. That's the minimum recommended requirement for vsphere and you still have FreeNAS requirements on top of that.

I had a very similar issue with 9.2.1.5 and the owncloud plugin. It took a very long time for the Jail, Plugin tabs to refresh and the side menu would continually refresh. In addition the Plugins module was never populated with plugins using the http://www.freenas.org/downloads/plugins/9/x64/pbi-meta/pbi-repo.rpo repository. I downloaded the owncloud 6.03 plugin from the repository and uploaded and installed, the result being owncloud was slow and difficult to use. My system requirements are very similar with 8GB of RAM. There were some DNS errors showing up in /var/log/messages though there was a valid DNS server configured, and I was able to resolve addresses with ping and nslookup. I was able to get it working by backing up my config and installing a 9.2.1 image.
