I have been looking for an option of using an old x86 pc as a file share device and recently came across Freenas. My understanding is that I can use my old Pc as a server which I can then access from any of the other computers which connect to it through my router.
My Pc skills are average but my Networking skills are lacking. I managed o install the software no problems and have the Gui open on the number of pcs with access to the router. I am however finding the vast array of options a bit overwhelming.
I haven't been able to get access to the drive in the Freenas server from my Windows pc. I believe the problems lies in the following:
In the 'Sharing' option where I browse to the 'mnt/' path I get nothing. I select browse but get no other option except mnt/.
Can anybody please advise what might be wrong?
Thanks in advance.
