Don't know if there will be a newer release as I haven't seen any changes for the past 11 days in the source code for 8.3.1 which is what -p2 came from.

Can an admin confirm if this is the official "p2" release?

i agree, what's the deal? you cant put a big red WARNING P1 IS FATALLY FLAWED and no note on how or why you should update to P2 from P1, P1 has been running fine for me so far.

The lack of communication about this is a bit disturbing. Meanwhile the look of the website front page has changed yet again. Different folks working on different issues hopefully. I'm still on 8.3.0-p1 and not upgrading yet.

If you're not running encrypted drives I would not bother with changing from -p1 to -p2 as you will not reap any benefit.

Here is the message from the users manual page: FreeNAS® 8.3.1-RELEASE-p2 was released on April 10, 2013. This is a bug fix release which fixes issues with extending an encrypted pool and disk serial numbers not being displayed in the GUI.

Honestly the serial number was fixed in -p1, the disk encryption was fixed in -p2.

Been running the -P2 here since the day it came out. No problems. :)
