Hello,

I didn't find a clear answer, maybe I did'nt watch enough closely.
I wonder if I can upgrade from 8.0 to 8.0.1 RC2 from a fresh install of the system but keeping my raid-z if I restore back the config file. Is it working or shoud I backup my raid-z ?

Thank you

Hi sekaiji,

You should be able to update from 8.0 to 8.0.1 RC2 by doing a cd-based update.

The FreeNAS image size was doubled to 2 GB (so be sure your USB key is big enough) which is the reason you need to boot from a cd to do the update.....unlike most updates where the "other" partition is overwritten & the new version set to boot this update requires the whole thing to be overwritten.

Don't worry, the update process saves a copy of your config before it overwrites the USB key and then copies it back. That said, it's not a bad idea to save a copy of your config each time you update.
