Hello,
Building a new system with:
X11SPH-nCTPF motherboard and SuperChassis 826BE2C-R920LPB which has a BPN-SAS3-826EL2 dual-expander backplane. I've connected the SAS cables from the 2 ports on the motherboard to the first two ports on the first expander (currently not using the second expander). I intend on installing ESXi and FN as a VM and give FN direct control of the hard drives. On a previous build, I successfully setup FN as VM on ESXi, only that system did not have an expander backplane, but I did flash the same onboard 3008 controller to IT. It all worked out well.
My question is... with this new build having the (dual) expander backplane, do I still need to flash the controller to IT mode?
Thank you in advance for your input.
