Hey!
first of all i want to say: I am overwhelmed by the community for FreeNAS. This is the main reason why i decided to now build my own NAS and not go with a standard solution. Great to see a community this active and helpful!
Why I build a NAS:
Before reading up on FreeNas and ZFS(bit rot) I wanted to build one beefy machine which does all of this in addition to running ZoneMinder (for the security cameras), some Virtual Machines, Plex etc., now I decided to seperate and build a NAS+server.
Now to my build:
NAS
OVERALL: ~ 1.650,00 €
All items labeled with 0,00 € are owned.
Now to my questions:
Thank you a lot!

Why I build a NAS:
- Smartphone photo+video storage (up to 10 phones)
- Security camera footage storage (~5 cameras)
- GIT-repos
- Computer Backups (up to 10x Windows/Linux)
- File Sharing

Prolimatech Samuel 17 CPU-Cooler (0,00 €)
Scythe Slip Stream Slim 120 mm Cooler 800 rpm (0,00 €)
Supermicro X10SLL+-F (210,00 €)
Fractal Design Node 304 (75,00 €)

total: 1.499,00 €
power usage: ~ 105W

Now to my questions:
- What do you think of the separation of NAS + server?
- Is all the hardware compatible?
Thank you a lot!
