I built a FreeNas server last weekend, and thought I would post my hardware setup in case it helps someone else wanting to build a server:

I am using FreeNAS-8.0.1-RC2-amd64 (7813)

Have approx 3TB usable storage with ZFS.

No real issues installing. I had originally bought an Asus Micro ATX board, not realizing I needed a Mini ATX board.(really? Micro is not smaller than Mini?) Obviously wouldn't fit the case, so had to run down to Frys to buy the Zotac board. Everything else came from NewEgg. The USB drive is great. Super small, put it in the front USB port of the case, you can barely tell its there. I moved all of my mp3s off my MacBook pro(about 90 GB worth) and I am able to play it from the FreeNas from iTunes with no issues. Also able to play video with no issues. Now I have loads of free space on my MacBook Pro. All my machines are Macs in the house, so using AFP share. I did have an issue when I first started configuring, it complained that it could start the services. I just did a reboot through the webGUI and it was fine after that.
