No performance impact. Btw. the article is very badly written and confusing.

1.3GB/s... pretty impressive...

That's a E3-1220V3 processor (quad-core 3.1GHz)

I ran the same test with an i3-3140 , and I got

4294967296 bytes transferred in 3.096298 secs (1387129832 bytes/sec)
close to 1.4GB/s
