Do I have to shutdown Jails before upgrading?

Hi Folks,

I'm new to FreeNAS and absolutely loving it. Am running Plex and Subsonic plugins and some other stuff in a standard FreeBSD jail. Running the nightly branch. Today, an update became available.

Question: Do I have to take care for anything special with the Jails before I select to apply the pending updates via the Web GUIs? E.g. manually console-ing into the Jails and shutting them down?

Or is it really just a single-click update process and all of my Jails / Plugins will come back online once the system has rebooted?

That's been my experience--I've never manually stopped jails when doing an upgrade. I do stop VirtualBox VMs, though.

Thanks for the speedy response. I'll give it a try, then.

If you look at the shutdown script or the console monitor, you'll see that it gracefully shuts down all of the jails before rebooting.
