I have recently (within the last few months) noticed a problem with the created date of files stored on my freebasing server, but only when accessing them from my Mac. The files are mostly scanned PDFs that get scanned into my free as server from a PC. The dates display correctly on the pic, but when viewing the same files on the Mac, the date created displays incorrectly.

I don't recall making any changes - is this a known problem? If so, is there a workaround?

I'm not aware of any FreeNAS related issues to your problem. Since this only appears on your Mac, might I suggest searching the internet for a Mac related issue.

I'll keep researching, as that could be the case. I've tried two macs and the both behave the same way. I'm really not sure if the problem is a Windows one (since the file is created on this OS), freenas (since the file is stored and shared/accessed here), or the Mac because that's where I see the problem.

When you say the dates display incorrectly, an example would be helpful.

I scan a file on my pc and save on a freenas share. I access that file from my Mac on the same freenas share, and the date created says 1 December 2000, even though I scanned the file today. My pc shows the correct date created (today's date)

Are all the file dates of the files always 1 December 2000 or do they vary?

Also, are you using CIFS to access your files on your Mac? I want to ensure you are using the same protocol to rule out the FreeNAS.

I was using NFS on the mac, and SMB on the PC. I switched over to SMB on the mac and the dates are correct now. Is this a setting in NFS or is this a bug?

BTW, the date displayed is Dec 31, 2000, not Dec 1, 2000 when using NFS to access the files on Freenas.

This sounds like a bug so I'd submit a bug report (see link at top of page) on this problem, and give as much data as you can about the problem. I don't have a Mac so I can't tell you if there is anything else to do.
