Data Errors with Passed Extended Test?

I noticed that zpool status reports 14 data errors.

I ran an extended test on both drives and the test completed with no errors. One of the drives took longer to complete the test, stuck on 10% remaining for a few hours, but did complete successfully. Attached are the reports for each drive.

Although drives can fail at any time, these drives are only 1 year old and have been under extremely light usage.

Is the data corruption the result of failing drives, bad SATA cables, or a bad controller? Given the extended SMART test passed for both drives, I assume changing the SATA cables is the next step? Followed by replacing the controller, which is the motherboard, so I would have to add a PCIe SATA controller.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

PCIe SATA controller.
dear lord please no. these are almost universally garbage. SAS controller is the way.

SMART failure and data errors are not directly related.
ZFS detects anything that corrupts data independently of smart.
you can have smart failures and no data problems, or data errors and no smart errors.
as you are using a non ECC setup, these errors could very well be caused by your memory.

sometimes errors just happen. clear them (zpool clear) and see if you get more.

additionally, ensure your backups are viable.
