cpu replacement - pentium to xeon

hello,
i am running old freenas 9x with Pentium, can i just replace cpu to xeon v3? Will it boot without issues?

You'd have to check the CPU compatibility list for your particular motherboard

TrueNAS has very little ties to specific hardware. Mostly just network interface names in configuration, etc. CPUs definitely can be replaced. I am slightly worrying about mentioned 9.x version, it would be a long chain of updates.

@mav@ sounds good. Well i want to build new machine in parallel with latest truenas and migrate. as these updates might not work properly etc.

i have swapped out motherboards and CPU's on existing FreeNAS and TrueNAS installations. Never had any issues except for the NIC configuration since i had a LAGG configured which didn't play well with my router.
