Hi all I have a question about CPU idle power. I have a Dell T620 and which can take to E5-2400 v2 series CPUs. I would like to put 2 of the following CPUs in it:
E5-2637 v2 3.5GHz 10M 8.0GT/s 4 core 130W
Will the above CPU draw a lot more power at idle than the E5-2650 v2 2.6GHz 20M 8.0GT/s 8 core 95W
I understand that when the system is doing work it will used more power I'm more concerned about when the system is doing nothing a night.

Thanks,
Simon

I suspect it will draw slightly more power because it is running at a higher frequency and have a few more circuits on it however during idle it should be a minimal change.

Thanks that's what I though. I'll just have to try and find out.

Let us know if there's a visible difference in idle power for the whole system.
