Hi gang! Long time reader, first time poster.
I have a Middle Atlantic rack in my wiring closet that houses my 24 port GigE switch, my current QNAP TS-421+ NAS, a UPS, and a few other odds and ends. I'm wanting to build an 8+ bay FreeNAS appliance to replace the QNAP which is nearly full. My problem is I don't have a standard depth rack so I'm limited on my case selections.
I've been looking at the Norco RPC-4308 and the Norco RPC-430. Both support 8+ drives and should be short enough for my rack. Are there any similar cases that I'm missing you'd recommend. I like the 4308's hot swap bays but worry about the SAS backplanes durability.
