I have tried 2 servers, one a Lenovo Think Server t40 and the current one is a Cisco m3 220 Dual Xenon with 256GB RAM, 500GB SSD Boot TrueNAS and 1tb x2 SSD for drive pool.
I can install and run perfectly Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop, but when trying to install Server (18.04 or 20.04) both halt the install after selecting all default options, no addons and 10GB drive, 32GB RAM, 2 vCPUs, 2 Cores, 1 Thread. Errors out and crashes with full control to reboot with "Sorry, there was a problem completing the installation."
Nothing jumps out in the logs. I have followed many tutorials and nothing seem to work.

Fail: Curtain command in-target
curtain: Installation failed withe the exception: Unexpected error while running command.

Any help?

I'm running into this exact problem on a dual Xeon system. I've installed Ubuntu server 20.04 in the past and didn't run into this. I expect something has changed impacting Bhyve in the last few updates to TrueNAS.

Tried installing Ubuntu 20.04 and 18.04, same failure with both.

I have not been able to repair this, please if you find a fix let me know also.
My work around is using Ubuntu Desktop it works, kind bloated but it gets the job done.

likewise. I've got a couple of Ubuntu server VMs that are running just fine but for whatever reason, I can't install new ones.

Could you select "View full report" and post that?

Unfortunately, I only have VNC access to it and it's several hundred pages long. is there a particular section of it that would be helpful I could search through it for?

The last part with (hopefully) the error message leading to the failed install?

End of the log doesn't have anything sexy, but I found this in the middle of it, somewhere.

Did you create both disk and network virtual devices as VirtIO?

I've played around with different configs on mode and sector size of the disk. even manually created a couple of zvols in different pools (SSD and CMR). same results.
