I'm running FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201605170422, and want to get up to 11.1 (need to upgrade some stuff running in old jails for compatibility, way past EOL at this point).
Reading around, seems the recommended path is 9.3 -> 9.10 -> 11.1. So I change my train to 9.10 in the gui, and get a "Update server could not be reached" popup after a bit. Clicking check now does the same thing. Going to the 11 train, same deal.
The update server noted in the gui is http://update.freenas.org/FreeNAS, in the console there is some error messages about 'Unable to load ['https://web.ixsystems.com/updates/ix_crl.pem']'
I can ping the outside web from the box, including update.freenas.org. The web.ixsystems.com address does not resolve.
I can't do a manual upgrade from 9.3 to 9.10 as far as I can tell. No signed tar support, as gui demands a checkum, but there no checksum available for the manual file that is available here https://download.freenas.org/archived/9.10/STABLE/9.10.2-U6/. This thread (https://www.ixsystems.com/community/threads/manual-upgrade-to-version-9-10-2-u1.49658/) and linked bug reports seem to indicate this path is not available.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
