Can I disconnect an entire pool and not break anything?

We have a 60 Disk Storinator.

We're using 30 disks in a pool that is working very slow for us. We are trying to test a new controller card.
Can we connect the controller only to 16 unused disks and start FreeNAS?

Will the 30 disk pool that was disconnected come right back once we finish testing and restart?

Thanks

Yes. You should first detach the pool using the "detach volume" button from the Storage tab. Be very careful NOT to have any of the options checked that destroy/delete any data!!! You may then shutdown and unplug the disks from that pool and plugin the unused disks. Once your testing is complete, you may do the same thing with the test pool...detach volume, shutdown, unplug test disks, plug the production disks back in, power up and import the pool using the "import volume" button from the storage tab.

Perfect! Thanks so much!

If you don't mind seeing FreeNAS complain about the missing pool, you can even skip the export.
